Lantana Neighborhood Crime Watch

A Crime Watch is an organization of citizens that are concerned with the reduction and prevention of crime within their neighborhood. Neighborhood Watch Programs are designed to accomplish two goals:

1. To reduce criminal victimization of citizens within their neighborhood.

2. To increase the number of citizens’ reports of crimes or potential crimes in progress.

To achieve these goals, a majority of the residents within the designated area must actively participate in the Neighborhood Watch Program.

The program itself should:

  • Increase citizen awareness of crime problems.

  • Organize citizens within a neighborhood to maintain a system of surveillance over one another’s property, children, etc.

  • Encourage accurate and prompt reporting of crimes or suspicious activity in the neighborhood to the police.

  • Encourage citizens to come forward as witnesses

Neighbor Responsibilities

As a Crime Watch Neighbor, your responsibility is to be a good neighbor by watching out for other's properties and by reporting suspicious activity to the police. You should know the three neighbors across the street from your home, your neighbors on each side, and the three neighbors behind your residence.

You should have a heightened awareness for your neighbor's welfare and you should be more than willing to report suspicious activity to the police. Citizens can be assured that when they report suspicious activity, their name will be held in strictest confidence..
